PETER PAN - PART 3

In every book there is often one obvious plot, including mine. But I'm having a hard time figuring out the sub-plots; mostly because I think that you can interpret them in many different ways.
At first I considered Captain Hook and his crew as a sub-plot, but minutes later I came to the conclusion that Captain Hook is just a character in the book, meant to bring excitement and diversity. In the end, I decided that the sub-plot of the book is the story about Peter & Wendy. This is how I reflect;

In Neverland Wendy becomes like a mother to the lost boys who are not use to having a woman, or a girl amongst them. They even despise mothers. But I don't think Peter consider Wendy as a mother, there is something more to it. And it is mentioned several times in the book, that Wendy and her brothers are starting to forget what things are like at home, even if they occacionally think of it. In one part of the book it is described like this "It is quite impossible to say how time does wear on Neverland, where it is calculated by moon and suns, and there are ever so many more of them than on the mainland"
  So If I have understood things right, neither Wendy, John or Michael knows how long they've been in Neverland. But in some way, they want to stay, Wendy wants to stay. I wonder whats keeping them? Peter, probably.

The connection between Peter and Wendy was quite obvious from the very beginning, but is the book Peter Pan, the boy that wouldn't grow up really about the love between Peter and Wendy? But like I said before - you can interpret the story in many different ways. Ordinary love story or just an adventure novel? It's up to the reader.
